Juan Mata says Manchester United want to end the season on a high

Juan Mata has warned Tottenham Hotspur that Manchester United want to finish the Premier League season on a high ahead of their clash next Sunday.

The Red Devils secured back-to-back Premier League wins on Sunday afternoon thanks to a 1-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford.

 

Summer signing Anthony Martial scored a second-half winner to seal three points and net United’s 1,000th goal in the Premier League.

Tottenham, on the other hand, lost ground on Leicester City after a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield in Saturday’s late kick-off in the Premier League.

 

Louis van Gaal’s side make the trip to White Hart Lane next Sunday afternoon.

 

And Mata, who moved to United in a £37.1m deal from Chelsea in 2013, issued a rallying cry to his team-mates ahead of their final seven Premier League games.

 

“These three points against such a good team as Everton make us face the last stint of the season with energy and optimism,” Mata wrote on his personal blog.

 

“Right now, we know that there are seven games remaining (apart from the FA Cup) and our only goal is to get as many points as possible.

 

“And then, the table will say where we stand. The next game against Tottenham is a big challenge and a great opportunity to show that we will certainly fight until the end in this month and a half.”
