JUAN MATA ISSUES RALLYING CRY AHEAD OF WEST HAM V MAN UTD

Juan Mata urges Manchester United to maintain their focus as they prepare for their trip to West Ham on Wednesday night

Juan Mata has warned that Manchester United do not have long to dust themselves down from their disappointing 3-0 loss to Tottenham on Sunday as they now turn their attentions to FA Cup affairs.

Mata started the game at White Hart Lane as Louis van Gaal’s men were sent crashing to a comprehensive defeat by Spurs thanks to three quick-fire second half goals in north London.
The loss dealt a significant blow to Manchester United’s hopes of finishing in the top four this season, as it left them four points behind Manchester City heading into the final few games of the campaign.

However, Van Gaal’s side are now preparing for their FA Cup quarter-final replay clash against West Ham United on Wednesday night.

And Mata has urged United to quickly switch their focus to reaching the semi-finals of the cup competition.

Writing in his blog on Kicca, Mata said: “I think it’s good to play the next game as soon as possible, on Wednesday, because it allows the team to move on from White Hart Lane and focus completely on the match against West Ham.

“It’s actually one of the most important games of the season and we can’t afford to feel sad or upset when preparing for it.

“On the contrary, we must be aware that at the Boleyn Ground we have a fantastic opportunity to make it to Wembley and give our fans what they deserve: a reason for joy this season.”
