JUAN MATA INSIST HE´LL STILL GIVE EVERYTHING TO MAN. UNITED IF JOSE MOURIHNO ARRIVES

Juan Mata has pledged to still give everything to Manchester United even if Jose Mourinho replaces Louis van Gaal as manager.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder was sold to Man United by Mourinho as he wasn’t a fan of him as a player so there are understandably questions surrounding his future at Old Trafford were the Portuguese manager to take over.

Despite his history with Mourinho, Mata insists it wouldn’t make a difference to him. Speaking to AS.com in an interview when asked about Mourinho replacing van Gaal, Mata said: “I do not know. At a club like United there are always many rumours around coaches and players, especially when there are bad results or when the end of the season arrives.

“I gave everything and I will continue to give everything to the club where you are. The most important thing now is not the future to but think of qualifying for the Champions League and winning the FA Cup.”

As much as Mata is willing to still give everything to United if Mourinho takes over, it will be out of his hands as to whether he’d have a future at United.

He was sold by Mourinho because of his lack of defensive contribution in comparison to Oscar who became one of his favourite players and that hasn’t particularly changed at United, although in a couple of recent games Mata has actually covered Antonio Valencia when he’s been caught out of position. That being said, it’s still the weakest point in his game.

United fans have taken to Mata who is one of the nicest and most grounded players at the club but if a manager doesn’t like you, your relationship with the fans is largely irrelevant. If Jose does take over, then I’m really not sure whether we’d see Mata play for United again.
